In short: Betfair Casino runs live blackjack from Evolution, Playtech and Pragmatic Play, Betfair-branded tables and Playtech RNG blackjack. A fair table pays 3:2 on a natural, and basic strategy keeps the house edge near half a percent. The welcome spins are for Jackpot King slots, not blackjack.

What is in the lobby

Betfair keeps its table games under the Card & Table tab, and the live dealer rooms sit under Live Casino. The blackjack side is built from three sources: Evolution, Playtech and Pragmatic Play Live supply live tables, Betfair runs its own branded Live Blackjack tables numbered 1 to 12, and Playtech supplies RNG blackjack such as Premium Blackjack.

Betfair titles named in its live casino include Live Lightning Blackjack and Free Bet Blackjack from Evolution, and Quantum Blackjack from Playtech. Betfair has not published a full list of blackjack tables for Ireland. The cards below are examples of what these studios run, so treat them as a map of styles and search the lobby for a table by name before you count on it.

A live table streams a real dealer and shuffles a physical shoe. Betting windows are timed, so you decide inside a countdown. Some live tables take unlimited seats, so you never queue for a place, while Betfair's numbered tables work more like a classic room with a fixed number of seats.

Live bet limits at Betfair depend on a "Priority level" on your account. The levels themselves are not published, so read the minimum and maximum on the table before you sit down.

The studio matters more at a blackjack table than at a slot, because the studio decides the rules, the side bets and the pace. Two tables that both say "Blackjack" can pay differently on a push, a split or a dealer 17. For the wider lobby, see the providers page.

Evolution

Live Lightning Blackjack adds multipliers on top of the usual game, and Free Bet Blackjack gives you a free double on a hard 9, 10 or 11 and a free split on every pair except tens. Both are live tables with a studio dealer.

Playtech

Quantum Blackjack is the multiplier game, and Premium Blackjack is the RNG table in the Betfair lobby. Playtech also builds VZN tables, a format that sits between live and RNG play.

Pragmatic Play

ONE Blackjack seats an unlimited number of players at one single seat, each making their own decisions, with side bets such as Crazy 7 and Bust Bonus. Its other live tables now allow doubling after a split.

Play'n GO

Known for slots and for RNG card tables such as Blackjack MH, where you play several hands against the dealer. It is a small part of the blackjack picture, so search the lobby by name to see whether a Play'n GO table is there.

RTP and volatility

Return to player (RTP) is the proportion of stakes a game pays back across a huge number of hands, and for blackjack it assumes you follow basic strategy. A table showing 99.5% means a theoretical house edge of 0.5%, so a loss of about 50 cent per €100 staked on average. Over one evening the result is far more random than that, because the swing in a session dwarfs the edge.

The list is short on purpose. Pragmatic Play prints these numbers on its public game pages. Evolution, Playtech and Play'n GO show theirs inside the game's rules panel rather than on a public page, and a figure copied from a review site can describe another build. So there is no number here for Lightning Blackjack, Free Bet Blackjack or Quantum Blackjack, and you should open the info panel at the table to read it. The same goes for "up to" figures, which describe the best rule set, not every table.

  • Blackjack pays 3:2. A €10 bet wins €15 on a natural. A table that pays 6:5 pays only €12 and adds roughly 1.4 percentage points to the house edge, which is the biggest single rule change you can spot at a glance.
  • Dealer stands on soft 17. If the dealer hits it, the edge grows by around 0.2 points.
  • Doubling after a split is worth a little to you, in the region of 0.1 to 0.15 points, and surrender, where offered, adds a little more.
  • Side bets cost more. Perfect Pairs, 21+3 and similar bets have house edges several times larger than the main hand, and insurance loses over time unless you count cards.

Volatility is separate from RTP. Classic blackjack is low volatility: you win or lose roughly even money on most hands. Multiplier games such as Lightning Blackjack and Quantum Blackjack rest on a few large payouts, which makes the ride much bumpier. Free Bet games give the edge back in another place, usually a push when the dealer lands on 22, so they carry a lower base RTP than the classic table.

Mobile version

Blackjack suits a phone because the decisions are simple: hit, stand, double, split. Betfair has dedicated apps for the casino, and the casino also loads in a mobile browser. The iPhone app is called Betfair Casino & Slots and is listed in the Irish App Store. On Android the casino app is Betfair Casino & Slots as well, and there is a separate Betfair Live Casino & Roulette app.

  1. Install and sign in

Find it in the App Store or Google Play, or open the casino in your browser. The login is the same one you use on the website.

  2. Open the right tab

Live dealer blackjack is under Live Casino. RNG tables are under Card & Table.

  3. Search by name

Type the table name, for example Free Bet Blackjack or Premium Blackjack. The app lobby can differ from the website, so a missing table is a reason to search, not to assume it is gone.

  4. Check the rules panel

Before your first bet, open the info icon and read the blackjack payout, the dealer rule on 17 and the side bets.

  5. Set a deposit limit

A limit that goes down applies at once, and one that goes up takes 7 days to apply. That is a good brake for fast tables.

Live video uses mobile data. On a weak signal a live table can lag between your tap and the dealer's reaction, so switch to Wi-Fi or an RNG table when the connection is poor. Betfair does not publish a phone support line, and help comes by live chat.

Blackjack FAQ

Q1Does Betfair Casino have live blackjack for players in Ireland?

Yes, the live casino runs blackjack tables from Evolution, Playtech and Pragmatic Play Live, plus Betfair-branded Live Blackjack tables numbered 1 to 12. Lobbies can differ by country and change over time, so search the lobby for the table by name before you plan a session around it.

Q2Can I use the welcome free spins on blackjack?

No. The 50 + 50 free spins are for Jackpot King slots, led by Crabbin' For Cash Extra Big Catch Jackpot King, and they cannot be used at a blackjack table. Betfair has not published a blackjack-specific bonus, so your stake at the table is your own money.

Q3What is the RTP of blackjack at Betfair Casino?

Betfair does not publish one figure for its blackjack tables. The studio sets the rules of each game, and the return depends on those rules and on how well you play. Pragmatic Play publishes 99.62% for Multihand Blackjack and 99.60% for American Blackjack. For any other table, read the rules panel in the game.

Q4Is live blackjack better than the RNG version?

Neither has a built-in edge for the player. Live tables give you a real dealer and a slower pace, while RNG tables deal instantly and let you play at your own speed with low stakes. Pick by pace and by the rules on the table, such as the 3:2 blackjack payout, rather than by format.

Q5What are the bet limits at the live tables?

Live bet limits at Betfair depend on a "Priority level" on your account, and the full list of levels is not published. The minimum and maximum for a table are shown on the table itself before you sit down, so check them there.

Q6Can I play Betfair Casino blackjack on my phone?

Yes. Betfair Casino & Slots is listed in the Irish App Store and on Google Play, and the casino also works in a mobile browser. Open the Live Casino or Card & Table tab, or search the table name. Which tables appear in the app can differ from the website, so search by name if one is missing.

Q7Which payment methods can I use to fund blackjack?

Pay by Bank, debit card and Apple Pay are the main routes, with PayPal, Skrill, Neteller, Paysafecard, MuchBetter and bank transfer under other methods. Credit cards stopped working for gambling in Ireland on 5 February 2026. Betfair publishes no per-table minimum deposit, so the cashier shows what applies to you.

Pick a table and read its rules

Open the lobby, search for the table by name and read the rules panel before the first hand. The tables are games of chance and there is no way to guarantee a win. See responsible gambling.
