BetFair Casino - Dublin

Betfair Casino is online-only, so being in Dublin changes less than you might think. Here is how the rules, the tax and the access steps work in the city.

In short: Betfair Casino has no shops or venues in Dublin; it is an online casino that Irish players use with one euro account, wherever they live. Licensing is national, so the county changes nothing. Player winnings are not taxed in Ireland, credit cards stopped working for gambling on 5 February 2026, and help comes through live chat.

Betfair Casino online from Dublin

People type "betfair casino dublin" hoping for an address, a lobby or a cashier desk. There is none of the three. Betfair Casino is an online casino, so a player in Ballsbridge, Tallaght or Howth sees exactly what a player in Sligo sees: the same lobby of more than 1,000 games, the same euro account and the same welcome offer of 50 free spins with code CASF51, plus 50 more after you play €10 on Jackpot King games.

The company behind the casino has been part of the Betfair story since 2000 and sits inside Flutter Entertainment. Its casino licence is MGA/CRP/131/2006, issued in Malta to PPB Counterparty Services Limited. Several group companies appear on the Maltese register, and one of them, PPB GE Limited, lists an address at Clonskeagh, Dublin 4. That is a corporate office. It is not a place to hand over documents, ask about a withdrawal or complain in person, and nobody there will see you without a prior arrangement.

Irish law is national. The county you live in changes your licence, your tax and your rights by exactly nothing, which is why this page is about the city and its habits rather than a Dublin-only product.

Casinos in Dublin: the card clubs

Searches for casinos in Dublin mostly lead to venues that are not casinos in the licensed sense. The Gaming and Lotteries Act 1956 never made room for commercial casinos, so the land-based places run as private members' clubs. Nothing about them is connected to Betfair, and the rules are different from playing online.

  1. You join first

Entry is for members. You sign up and show photo ID, and the Public Services Card is not accepted by private businesses for this.

  2. You wait before playing

There is a cooling-off period of about 24 hours between joining and your first game, so a spur-of-the-moment visit does not work.

  3. There is no public register

No official list of these clubs exists, and a list copied from a blog goes out of date. Treat any venue roundup as a starting point, not a source.

Searches for slots venues in Dublin turn up a mix of members' clubs and amusement arcades, each with its own rules. The 2024 Act builds a new framework for in-person gambling, but the gaming side of it is still a later phase of the rollout.

Gambling tax in Dublin

The question behind "gambling tax Dublin" has a short answer. Winnings you take home from an online casino are not taxed in Ireland. The Taxes Consolidation Act 1997 (section 613(2)) keeps them clear of capital gains tax, and neither income tax, USC nor PRSI is due on them either. The tax burden falls on operators, not players.

Winnings

Not taxed for the player, whatever the amount.

Losses

Not deductible against other income.

Operators

Pay the duties and levies themselves.

One practical point: a big win is still checked for identity and source of funds before it is paid out, so have your documents ready. Our withdrawals guide covers the timings.

What changed under the 2024 Act

Ireland's Gambling Regulation Act 2024 took effect on 5 February 2026, creating the Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland (GRAI). For a Dublin player the changes show up in a few places, and some of them are only partly in force.

From 5 February 2026 gambling with a credit card, or with a wallet funded from credit, is blocked, which is the change a Dublin player meets first, at the cashier. The advertising watershed, which keeps gambling adverts off TV, radio and on-demand services between 05:30 and 21:00, applies once that part of the Act is fully commenced. The law provides for a National Gambling Exclusion Register, though it is not running yet, so for now you self-exclude with each operator separately. The GRAI has said gaming licence applications open throughout 2027 and 2028, so no Irish casino licence exists yet.

Betfair's GRAI licences cover its sports betting and the Betfair Exchange. The casino stays under the Maltese licence until Ireland opens gaming licences. Read more on limits and self-exclusion.

What to do when it did not work

Most access problems from Dublin come from five places. Work through this checklist in order before you contact anyone.

  1. Login fails

Reset the password from the login screen, check that the email matches the one you registered with, and try the browser version if the app is the problem. Repeated failed attempts can lock the account for a while.

  2. Verification is pending

Until you are fully verified, an Irish customer can deposit up to €2,000 in the first 30 days and cannot withdraw. Send a photo ID together with proof of address, both matching your account name exactly.

  3. Payment declined

Make sure the card is not a credit card, because those cannot be used for gambling in Ireland. Try Apple Pay, Pay by Bank or a debit card. If your bank app has a gambling block, switch it off and allow time for it to lift.

  4. The site or an offer seems unavailable

Switch off any VPN, because a connection that looks like it is outside Ireland can trigger a review. The welcome offer is for new customers in the UK and the Republic of Ireland, so an account opened elsewhere will not qualify.

  5. The app will not install

The iPhone app, Betfair Casino & Slots, is listed in the Irish App Store. The Android app is on Google Play as Betfair Casino & Slots, but we have not tested every Irish device. If your store does not show it, play in the mobile browser instead.

Still stuck? Open live chat from the help centre. Betfair publishes no phone number for Ireland, and nobody takes walk-in visitors in Dublin 4. Complaints get a final answer within 10 days, and if you disagree you can take the case to eCOGRA, the approved dispute body.

If gambling stops feeling like a choice, gamblingcare.ie offers free, confidential help, and our responsible gambling page lists the Irish services. Players must be 18 or over.

Dublin FAQ

Q1Does Betfair Casino have a venue or shop in Dublin?

No. Betfair Casino is an online casino, so there is nothing to walk into. The wider group has a corporate office in Dublin 4, but it is not a customer service point and does not take walk-in visitors. Help comes through live chat in your account.

Q2Is Betfair Casino different for Dublin than for Cork or Galway?

No. Gambling law in Ireland is national, so the county you live in changes nothing. A player in Dublin, Cork or Galway uses the same euro account, the same cashier and the same welcome offer terms.

Q3Are casino winnings taxed for players in Dublin?

Player winnings are not taxed in Ireland. The Taxes Consolidation Act 1997 (section 613(2)) keeps them clear of capital gains tax, and neither income tax, USC nor PRSI is due on them. Gambling taxes are paid by operators, not by players. If your own circumstances are unusual, ask a tax adviser.

Q4Can I use a credit card for Betfair Casino in Dublin?

No. Since 5 February 2026 you cannot gamble with a credit card in Ireland, and wallets funded from credit are caught as well. Choose Apple Pay, Pay by Bank, a debit card or any other method listed in your cashier.

Q5Is Betfair Casino licensed by the GRAI?

Betfair holds GRAI licences for sports betting and the Betfair Exchange, but the casino itself runs under Malta licence MGA/CRP/131/2006. The GRAI has not opened gaming licences yet; that is a later phase of the rollout, so no operator can hold an Irish casino licence today.

Q6What are the casinos in Dublin that people search for?

Ireland has no commercial casinos licensed under the 1956 Act. Land venues run as private members' clubs, where you join, wait about a day and show photo ID. Betfair Casino is not one of them and is not connected to any of them.

Q7Why did my deposit fail from a Dublin bank account?

The usual causes are a credit card, a bank app that blocks gambling payments, or a card not enabled for online use. Revolut and some Irish banks let you switch gambling blocks on, and a block can take around 48 hours to lift. Try Pay by Bank or Apple Pay, or ask your bank.

Q8Can I get help in person in Dublin if my account is stuck?

Not from Betfair Casino, which supports customers through live chat and the help centre only. It publishes no phone number for Ireland. For free, confidential support with gambling problems you can contact gamblingcare.ie, and complaints Betfair cannot settle can go to eCOGRA.
